Egg Tester Plus by ORKA Food Technology: Precision and efficiency in egg quality evaluation.
The Egg Tester Plus has set new standards in egg quality evaluation. Thanks to its advanced technology, it allows for detailed analysis in a matter of seconds, providing precise data on egg freshness, consistency, and internal characteristics. Its implementation has significantly benefited producers, packers, and quality control laboratories in the poultry industry, optimizing egg selection and classification processes while ensuring greater uniformity in commercialized batches.
What is the Egg Tester Plus?.
The Egg Tester Plus™ is the latest version of the renowned EggAnalyzer® by ORKA. This electronic device measures and calculates multiple essential egg parameters, including weight, albumen height, yolk color, and Haugh unit, while also assigning a classification based on USDA standards. Its ability to perform all these measurements in approximately 17 seconds per egg significantly optimizes quality control processes, enabling quick and efficient decision-making in poultry production.
Key features.
- Comprehensive electronic measurements: Evaluates egg weight, albumen height, yolk color, Haugh unit, and USDA classification in a single operation.
- High precision and consistency: Advanced technology ensures highly accurate and repeatable results, reducing variability associated with manual methods and operator dependency.
- Rapid measurements: Each evaluation is completed in approximately 17 seconds, allowing efficient analysis of large egg volumes and improving productivity in processing plants.
- User-friendly interface and connectivity: Features a 3.5-inch color display and offers PC communication options via USB and Wi-Fi. Additionally, it includes expandable internal storage of up to 32GB with SDHC cards, facilitating data storage and transfer.
- Built-in printer: Enables immediate documentation of results, enhancing traceability and data recording for better quality control and auditing.
Measured parameters: Haugh unit and USDA classification.
The Egg Tester Plus™ measures key parameters for egg quality evaluation, such as the Haugh Unit and USDA Classification.
The Haugh Unit is a fundamental indicator of egg freshness. It is based on the height of the albumen relative to the egg’s weight: the higher the value, the fresher and higher-quality the egg. This measurement is widely used in the poultry industry to ensure product consistency and quality.
Another key aspect evaluated by the device is the USDA Classification, which determines egg quality based on internal and external appearance. It is divided into different categories:
- AA: Highest-quality eggs with firm albumen and a well-defined yolk, ideal for direct consumption.
- A: High-quality eggs with slightly less firm albumen but still good structure, commonly sold in supermarkets and restaurants.
- B: Eggs with more liquid albumen and a less-defined yolk, primarily used in the food processing industry.
- C: Lower-quality eggs, generally used for industrial products and egg derivatives.
Technical specifications.
- Egg weight range: 20.0 g – 300 g with a precision of ±0.2 g.
- Albumen height: 2 mm – 15 mm with a precision of ±0.2 mm.
- Yolk color: Scale from 1 to 16 based on the DSM Yolk Color Fan.
- Haugh Unit: Range from 0 to 130.
- USDA Classifications: AA: 72 or more. A: 71.9 – 60. B: 59.9 – 31. C: 30.9 or less.
- Dimensions: 260 mm (Width) × 310 mm (Height) × 390 mm (Depth).
- Weight: Approximately 7.6 kg.
Benefits for the poultry industry.
The implementation of the Egg Tester Plus™ in poultry operations and quality control laboratories offers multiple advantages:
